MOS (Microsoft Office Specialist) is the star among Certiport’s certification programs. Developed back in 1997, it has so far certified over 20,000,000 individuals worldwide, making it one of the most popular certifications.
The MOS Certification provide with assessment of skills on the usage and understanding of the various applications part of the popular Microsoft Office Suite.
Many Certiport’s Providers worldwide also organise local competitions, selecting winners and have them participating in the MOS World Wide Competition, which is held in the United States, once a year.
The MOS certification is available for any Office Suite released since 2010 onward. The 2016 version differs from the previous ones in its format, which is a project-based exam, where the student is required to go through steps of an assigned project in the actual environment of the program. This format is called LITA (Live in the Application) and requires the 2016 Office version to be physically installed on the machine.
The Office 365 and 2019 have added new additional features, such as 3D Models, Morph Animations, Slide Zoom, Ink and new Excel funcionalities.

For MOS 2016 there are three levels of certification on MOS:
The basic certification, achieved by passing one Core exam, chosen among the available programs.
An intermediate higher level of certification, passing a more difficult set of questions on Word and Excel programs.
To gain the Top Level MOS Certifications, students will have to pass 4 exams on MOS Expert, Excel Expert, PowerPoint and one elective exam on either Access or Outlook.

For MOS 2019 and Office 365, there are two levels of certifications:
Students are required to take at least three exams among Word Associate, Excel Associate, Outlook Associate and PowerPoint Associate.
At least two exams of the Expert Level of Word, Excel or Access, plus the Associate Certification.
